I want you to know that you are brave and strong to take this step in seeking therapy, I understand how hard it is to trust another person and especially a stranger. I am honored that you have chosen St. Clare Counseling, LLC. I want you to know that I promise to provide you with a compassionate ear, an open heart and am honored that you trust me to walk with you on your journey toward healing in body mind and spirit. I provide each client with an extensive intake session to really get to know you so that together we can work together to create a realistic treatment plan that you can work toward within a time frame that together we decide in order to enable you to reach your agreed upon treatment goals and objectives.

About out Gianna Johnston, LMSW

Gianna is graduate of Emmanuel College with a BA in Sociology and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from University of Connecticut. She also holds a graduate certificate in Applied Spirituality from the Women’s Leadership Institute located at the Hartford Seminary. Gianna is passionate about health and wellness and completed extensive coursework in Holistic Nutrition at the Southwest School for the Healing Arts located in Tempe, AZ, she is truly a lifelong learner. Gianna spent over a decade in academic administration at Harvard University and later worked for Massachusetts General Hospital in Admitting and Transferring inpatients in the MD Connect program at MGH, she spent years working with family in business and understands how providing quality service is vital to success in any business. Currently, when she isn’t at St. Clare Counseling you can find her at Aurora Behavioral Health as an Intensive Outpatient Therapist where she works on a per diem helping to facilitate group therapy. Gianna was born and raised on the east coast and spent most of her life in New England, growing up in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She has been in Arizona with her husband and daughter since 2009. She currently enjoys singing in her church choir and cooking for her family. Gianna has done and continues to do extensive continuing education units through the Arizona Trauma Institute located in Mesa, AZ. Gianna is the proud Mom of a United States Army Westpoint Cadet class of 2025! Go Army beat Navy!

Who is St Clare of Assisi?

Saint Clare of Assisi was born into a wealthy Italian family but soon shunned her luxurious upbringing to embrace the life of piety and poverty. Inspired by the words of Francis of Assisi, Clare fled her home and joined Francis, establishing her own religious order. The group became known for their austere and devout lifestyle and for the power of their prayer, which is credited with saving Assisi from invaders twice. After Francis’ death, Clare continued his work and broadened her own influence. Clare died on August 11th 1253 and established her own religious order before she passed away known still today at the Poor Clare’s, Clare was canonized two years later by Pope Alexander IV in the Roman Catholic Church.

Does this mean it’s only religious?

St. Clare Counseling accepts people of all faiths and no faith; all are truly welcome. St. Clare Counseling is inclusive, and all will individuals be met with compassion a listening ear that seeks first to understand the other through mindful reflective listening. Depending on the needs of each individual and their faith journey, each person’s needs will be taken into consideration.

Mission

The mission of St Clare Counseling is to provide high quality counseling in a trauma informed setting to individual adults utilizing several modalities including: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic Body Work and (EMDR) Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy in a safe environment catering to self-paying individuals who need sliding scale fees.

Vision

The Vision of St. Clare Counseling is to end the current crisis in the USA that currently eliminates many from receiving quality individual therapy due to cost. St Clare therefore provides sliding scale fees based on need on each individuals need and offers lower overall rates.
